I have a redemptive thread running through my own life where Christ came in and stopped me dead in my tracks and rerouted the course of my entire life. Just as there are among people we all know. Of course there are many other stories in the Bible that show the same kind of redemption and salvation. We would not have needed Christ to die on the cross for us. Verse 7 Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” Jesus spared her life because there was no one among them that was not “lost in some sauce” of their own. The infamous Bible verse many quote, but I feel many miss the meaning behind it, as I do sometimes in my own life. However, if you read this story, notice what Jesus did. She was also “lost” and wayward and as many of us, had made a terrible mistake in her life (as did the man). Now mind you, she committed a grave sin and the punishment was accurate for their time. So he returns home to his father who accepts him with open arms. Oh and who could forget the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32! One of the treasures that every preacher loves to talk about to steer home the wayward children! Taking the inheritance and squandering it all only to find himself eating and sleeping with pigs because he too was filled with pride! Again, drowning in some “sauce” that was just too great for him to bear alone. Little did she know at the time, God would turn it all around and make good on His promises!! God never fails us, no matter how much “sauce” we seem to be drowning in! She complained and had the ‘whoa is me’ mentality and even went so far as to take matters in to her own hands because like so many of us, she felt as though she could no longer wait on a sovereign God. In Genesis 11:30, Sarai was barren and felt as if God would never make good on His promise to give her a child. Many times throughout the Bible, God’s chosen men and women felt the very same way. The sometimes overwhelming circumstances we tend to find ourselves in make us feel like we are in a sea of forgetfulness. Have you ever been “lost in the sauce” of your life? Was there ever a time where you just felt like you were drowning and the only thing truly above water was your head from the chin up? You are definitely not alone if you have ever felt that way and I know I am not alone either. Really meditate on those four words aside from the funny meme in the picture.
“Lost in the sauce” is such a popular term these days but it has a deeper meaning than what most popular artists rap about or people throw around in loose conversation. I came across this meme when I was working on this post and thought it was a rather good depiction on what I wanted this to convey for our every day lives, even the things we have been through.
